TUNNEL INSPECTION
To meet current and future demand, the need for routine condition assessment is necessary to ensure tunnel reliability.

With tunnels built at different times in different materials to standards that are now out-dated, it is essential that an inspection regime to rated status is undertaken.
Powerfully swimming vehicles can handle turbulent and flowing water, avoiding the need for a tunnel to be emptied and the risk to inspection personnel of tunnel collapse. It also encourages frequency of inspections.

Defects, corrosion and obstructions can be pinpointed recorded and measured. Debris build-up can be removed where possible.

Intelligent systems architecture integrated into our vehicles, including iCON, also bring peace of mind on long tunnel excursions where reliability of operation and sure recovery of a vehicle is of vital importance. It means that if a system fails, its workload is assigned to another on-board system to keep the mission on track, or return the vehicle to base.
Sabertooth - deep tunnel penetration vehicle
Saab Seaeye Falcon - tunnel inspection vehicle
Sabertooth - a hybrid AUV/ROV that has
360 degree manoeuvrability and can swim over
12 kilometres down a tunnel where it can
navigate rises and falls and tight bends, and
keep working for 10 hours.
Falcon - a small yet powerful ROV, ideal for difficult to access locations. It can be fitted with a range of observation and survey systems and has an excursion length of 1000 metres. It can work in zero visibility and in currents. It can be manhandled down inspection hatches and can navigate along tunnels through rises and falls and round tight bends.
